Williams Furnace Company

Company Description

It began in 1916. Jesse Williams was manufacturing gas steam radiators in the Los Angeles area under the banner of Williams Radiator Company. An early commitment to product sophistication played an integral role in the company's growth. By the early 1930's, Williams' gas-fired space heating became a product-line reality.

Then, following World War II, progress dictated the introduction of a gravity wall furnace. Counterflow fan-type wall furnaces came soon after that resulting in a supply/demand ration of national scope. By 1954, coast-to-coast distribution networking was launched and sales were dramatically expanded outside the State of California.

This ultimately LED to the firm's acquisition by the Continental Materials Corporation in 1958. The AMEX-listed parent company subsequently increased product-line visibility with a name change to the Williams Furnace Company in 1959. Thus, the nation's leading manufacturer of gas-fired wall furnaces and related comfort products was well on its way to putting a significant stamp on the country's comfortable living standards.

In addition, Williams' 1986 acquisition of Hydro-Aire/Lanco further diversified manufactured products to include a comprehensive line of high quality fan coils and air handlers. Automated numerically controlled machinery with rigid quality control processes are used to assure precision and quality control. Combined with an extensive R & D effort, the engineering on these products is complemented via thorough testing in psychometric environmental chambers with instrumentation accuracy traceable to the National Bureau of Standards.

The Little Red Schoolhouse Training Program was introduced in the early 1990's as our continuing endeavor to service the industry. The seminars are held at our Colton facility. The product line is technically presented by our staff, along with a tour of the manufacturing plant, and discussion of Williams' features and benefits.

1996 marked Williams' entrance in Vent-Free and Hearth products marketplace, and a line of evaporative coolers. Williams is a single source of quality heating and cooling products which includes: Top-vent and direct-vent home furnaces, fireplaces, through-the-window gas heaters, gas logs, vent-free space heaters, garage heaters, hearth heaters/consoles, floor furnaces, mobile home heaters, air handlers and fan coils.

Today, our 357,000 square foot Colton, California manufacturing complex features state-of-the-art material handling, production systems, storage, and shipping/receiving facilities. Therefore, as we embark upon the arrival of our ninth decade, the Williams Furnace Company renews its ongoing commitment to quality manufactured products. Our proven history of integrity, reliability, and performance is your guarantee of leadership through thoughtfully engineered progress.
