Company Description

UMG holding was founded 28 September 2006 by System Capital Management, the largest Ukrainian industrial and financial group. At the moment UMG holding comprises three clay extracting enterprises:
VESCO,
Druzhkovka Quarry and
Ogneupornerud,

situated in the south-eastern part of Ukraine, in the city of Druzhkovka. 2,5 thousand people work for UMG, mainly they are mining engineers, mechanics, power engineers, transport drivers, excavator and locomotive engine drivers and repair personnel. In 2007, based on UMG, a technical study center was created to teach new workers industrial specialities and to improve the qualification of already working specialists. It is a unique practice for the Ukrainian clay extracting industry, used by UMG in the framework of the program of improving production efficiency, quality of the products and production volume enlargement.

At present UMG is the largest clay extracting world company with the production volume of 3 million tons a year and 250 million tons of balance store size. UMG clay is used in different industries for the production of ceramic tile, enamel, firebricks, ceramic tableware, insulators and bricks.

UMG explores the deposits that are unique even for Ukraine and that permit to produce the biggest part of products with high percentage of the aluminium oxide, more than 26% in dry substance, and low quantity of the iron oxide, less than 1,0%. The volume and the quality of production make UMG the leader among the world suppliers of plastic white ceramic clays.

UMG is a young company in process of working out its development strategy. Beside already approved plans of enlarging clay production volumes to conform with growing ceramic production, the company is looking for the new segments of clay consumption, where the Ukrainian clay may become an alternative to the more expensive raw materials, and it is also considering the possibilities of the organization of other raw material varieties production and their trade for the ceramic production.
