MitraSK was established in 1938 by Late Santosh Kumar Mitra in Barbil, a mining centre in the state of Orissa in Eastern India. Over the years we have grown to cover mining areas, ports, steel plants, power plants, utilities etc. through 68 branch offices in India, Japan, China, South Korea, Middle East, U.K., Jordan and Indonesia. Our registered office is in Calcutta, India. Since inception the vision of the Company has been to provide accurate and prompt testing services to customers, initially in India and now around the world. Our principle is to provide reliable, accurate and independent assessment of the quantity and quality of materials. Consequently MitraSK certificates are accepted worldwide for commercial transactions, making it one of the leading international certification agencies.

Our original expertise was in the sampling and analysis of minerals and ores. Today, we have over 600 skilled people to offer a comprehensive package of services including inspection, sampling, supervision and laboratory analysis, as well as technical consulting, marine and general surveys. The field covers minerals, ores, ferro-alloys, coal, coke and fertilizers. Environmental monitoring and microbiological testing are recent developments that testify to the Company considerable scientific and laboratory skills
