Our company Maxwell Wood SB is located in Port Klang, Malaysia. We have the largest Stellac kiln in Asia (60m3 capacity) which provides thermal modification services for timber and we also stock thermal modified sawn timber in Rubber wood, Merpauh, Southern Yellow Pine, Radiata Pine, Oak and Ash to our standard range.Thermal modification is a process where kiln dried or green timber is exposed to a very high temperature of 190ºC -250ºC. In the process, the sugars in the wood are transformed into less digestible compounds for most insects and natural protective agents in the wood is distributed evenly throughout the wood protecting the wood from the growth of decay fungi. Thermal modification changes the physical, chemical and biological properties of the timber, it converts timber typically not meant for outdoor application into suitable timber for outdoor applications e.g. window and door frames, outdoor garden furniture, timber screens and claddings, decks and flooring.
