MADEIRA COFFEE
100% Colombian Arabica Single Estate
In the mid-80's a new concept was born within the categories of coffee as a result of the demand by North American consumers who were looking for a higher-grade beverage in a market where the product had become homogenized. Not all Colombian coffee tastes the same; there are many factors that make it unique such as environmental considerations, the soil, the care the product receives during production and the processing (fermentation, washing and drying of the green beans) .
From this variety comes the concept of "Single Estate Coffees" which form part of Specialty Coffees. Estate Coffees originate from a single farm or estate and because the coffee is grown and processed using only the methods of a particular farm they are characterized by a higher consistency and quality than regular coffees. These types of coffees are very rare in Colombia as less than 2% of coffee-growers are in a position to produce 500 bags of 60kg each per annum, which is one of the main requirements.
MADEIRA COFFEE is a company exclusively dedicated to supplying 100% Arabica single estate green coffee, being us the owners of the land and therefore producers in order to keep the maximum control of our product from the plant to our final customers, complying with our strict norms and regulations. Our main aim is to guarantee our product's consistency and to foster our relationship with clients.
The company has access to a specialized area complete with trained personnel such as environmental engineers and agronomists / agriculturalists with a wide ranging experience in the production of coffee. In this way we make certain that our product meets the high requirements and demands that make it a MADEIRA COFFEE.
WHAT IS A MADEIRA COFFEE?
Because MADEIRA promises quality we only consider the supply of Arabica coffee beans. Furthermore, said coffee needs to be supplied by a "single estate" in order to guarantee the product's high grade of consistency. Every MADEIRA's production unit have met certain requisites of criteria and therefore can provide a coffee with unique characteristics.
Differentiated coffees are coffees valued by consumers for their consistent, verifiable and sustainable attributes and for which they are willing to pay the higher cost which, in turn, equates to the well-being of producers.
OUR PRODUCTS:
Specialty Coffees Utz Kapeh Certified
The Utz Kapeh seal is based on a series of regulations set out in a document named the Utz Kapeh Code of Conduct which deals with socio-cultural, environmental and financial requirements in order to achieve a 100% responsible coffee.
Monitoring the product is very important in the supply of Utz Kapeh certified coffee because in doing so the client is guaranteed that the coffee they are purchasing is actually being produced under a strict code of conduct. The Utz Kapeh Code has as its basic components environmental protection, limited use of pesticides, minimum salaries and work protection, living conditions and education for all families resident at the farms, ongoing improvement, control of the chain of custody and document management.
The UTZ CERTIFIED Code of Conduct was originally based on the EUREPGAP Protocol for Fruits and Vegetables. That Protocol was developed by leading European retailers and provides assurance of food safety and appropriate growing practices in fruits and vegetables.
UTZ CERTIFIED translated the EUREPGAP Protocol to the specific conditions of coffee production in 1997. Criteria from ILO (International Labor Organization) Conventions have also been added. The result is the UTZ CERTIFIED Code of Conduct, an internationally accepted code for responsible coffee production.
All our estates are UTZ Kapeh certified, reflecting our compromise with social and environmental issues as well as product quality and traceability.
