The LVS Series is typically applied to protect integrated circuits and other components from voltage transients. The LVS Series is a Transient Voltage Suppression devices based on the Zinc oxide ceramics with non-linear voltage-current characteristics similar to zener diodes. But zener diode has lower energy tolerance than multilayer. Multilayer type varistor having uniform grain size has high electrical reliability because each grain exhibit small p-n junction. Actually multilayer varistor have good electrical properties such as high clamping voltage and low leakage current. Multilayer ceramic varistor are manufactured by casting ceramic slurry into thin layers of precision thickness, printing metal electrode and stacking into a laminated structure.
