JHJ Mining and Development Corporation is a wholly-Filipino owned corporation that started in 1990 as JHJ Marketing supplying magnesite ore lumps to Atlas Fertilizer Corporation, owned and operated by the Soriano Group of companies, but, business slowed down in 1997 due to the Asian financial crisis and the El Nino phenomena that adversely affected farming. However, operation resumed in 2000 when the Japanese group took over the management of Atlas Fertilizer Corporation and changed its name to AFC Fertilizer & Chemicals, Inc. Since then JHJ Marketing (now JHJ Mining & Development Corporation) resumed supplying magnesite ore to AFC under a Supply Contract arrangement, renewable every two years..

Small fertilizer processors from Davao, General Santos City and Iloilo are getting their raw materials from JHJ Mining & Development Corporation. Additionally it has been supplying specialty chemicals and fertilizers to banana, pomelo, asparagus and mango plantations, corn seed producers and aqua culture companies around General Santos City and Davao for over 15 years. Key to this success, in spite of competition, is sourcing and substitution, selected suppliers and low overhead expenses.

JHJ Mining & Development Corporation derives its strength from its labors, contractors, employees and local government officials. Our work force of 200 to 300 are 99% residents of the barangays covered by our operation and intimately familiar with each other. Current production for the Philippine market is 3000-5000 metric tons a month. Magnesite grade is 40 to 46 percent and this is serve in lumps of no more than six inches diameter in bulk loaded to barges or LCTs.

The mining areas of JHJ Mining & Development Corporation are located in the Barangays of Puntalinao and Pintatagan, Municipality of Banaybanay, Province of Davao Oriental. Island of Mindanao, Philippines. The areas are rolling hills and mountains where deposits are found as low as sea levels and as high as 1,200 feet above sea level covered by secondary growth vegetation.

These sites are accessible from Davao City, thru the 110 kilometers of cemented coastal highways, going towards Mati, Davao Oriental passing thru the cities of Panabo, Tagum and towns of Mabini, Macu and Pantukan. It is a 2.5 hours ride from Davao City or you take a commercial air conditioned bus for less than three hours travel time. Davao city is 1.5 hours flight, in any of the three air carriers, from Manila.

Our beaching area can accommodate LCTs and Barges up to 10,000MT capacity and is one kilometer away from the nearest mine site and approximately five kilometers from the farthest area. It is 500 meters away from the National Highway.
