Company Description

Iljin Light Metal Co., Ltd. is a publicly listed conglomerate consisting of 10 subsidiary companies that specialize in new materials, information-communications, electrical power machinery, biotechnology and other key national industries. The company has developed most of its manufacturing technology by itself and leading domestic research institutes. Those products include cables for communications from copper-steel wire to optical fiber, electrical cables from screw to super-high tension, aluminum building materials, copper foil for PCBs, and industrial diamonds for cutting tools. The diamond was developed in cooperated with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and is on a par with the world's leading manufactures, including companies such as General Electric. In 1990, the company established and funded the Seoul National University Research Institute of Advanced Materials (Duk-Myong Memorial Building), Since then, Iljin has grown as a manufacturer of value-added intermediate industrial materials. The company has also ventured into the broadcasting business as a major shareholder in the Seoul Broadcasting System, a private broadcasting company, and has taken a part in establishing national infra-communication networks as a major stockholder in large information-communications companies such as Onse Communications and LG Telecom.
