COMPANY PROFILEGreen Horizon Marketing (GHM)Background and Experience of the Firm Green Horizon marketing (GHM) was established by Mr. Marino N. Niere in 1988 and registered as single entity specializing in trading and marketing.During its early days of operations, it simply started as an exclusive distributor of beverages cola of Cosmos Bottling Corporation in Alabang, Muntinlupa area. Furthermore GHM was handling the promotions and marketing of said product lines in order to maintain market share, which are always threatened by fierce competition. In 1990, the GHM gave up its contract with Cosmos Bottling Corporation and shifted its business line to import trading focusing on packaging materials, machineries and equipments, special application products. It is on this undertaking that the firm got chance to supply requirements of the country's leading companies such as San Miguel Packaging Products; Transworld Trading Co.; Johnson & Johnson, Northwest Equipment and others of which at present are still the firm's regular clients. After two (2) years of profitable business, the firm owner initiated the formation of other company the Green Hemisphere Freight Forwarding Corp., which is indeed essential in facilitating the improvements of GHM's import and export service. This company is specializing in customs brokerage, international freight forwarding (air/sea) cargo consolidator, break-bulk, NVOCC and Warehousing. Simultaneous which these developments, GHM became increasingly involved and interested to venture in manufacturing business. Encouraged by one of its trading client from Australia, the firm owner signed a contract with Consumix Image Corp. and Nebo Int'l PTY Ltd. In 1992 to improve, manufacture and market locally and portion of it will be exporting to U.S.A. and Europe. The original design is produced in Russia and in made of plastic and aluminum combination, but GHM was able to innovate with a new design of the said drawing board with improved functions, style andmaterials but most significant feature to be considered is the 50-60 percent reduction in price, and made almost 100% injection plastics materials. As commercialization starts, GHM strengthens of its technical and entrepreneurial capability by taking advantages of the Technology Business Incubator Program of the Department of Science and Technology. This program offers physical and intellectual resources to assist entrepreneurs who engaged in technology-based enterprise. To this effect, the firm advertently located its production department within the compound of the Department of Science and Technology to readily avail of the technical and business consultancy expertise which contributed significantly in building up the firm's internal strength.Ownership and Legal Status GHM is a private and independent firm 100 percent owned by its sole proprietor Mr. Marino N. Niere. It has been duly registered single proprietorship type of business under the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.Firm's Policy Among the firm's foremost objectives is to produce plastic-based products for water piping fittings, and sewerage applications, industrial air conditioning plastics parts, beverages refrigerator and accessories. To ensure that this objective is achieved, GHM carefully selected its personnel in the organization who could observe the following philosophy:-Professionalism and integrity with self-imposed discipline-Accountability and responsiveness-Advocacy and adaptability to new and emerging technologies-Development of inter-relation with co-workers for personal enhancement and teamwork.Operational Set-up and Organization Since the firm's involvement in manufacturing and productdevelopment it has been envisioned by the firm's planners and consultants to make the company one of the leading manufacturers of industrial plastic-based products for and general applications. For more than a decade of existing GHM has gathered to its organization selected people with proven competence along with their respective field of expertise to carry out the firm's goals and objectives. GHM also maintains an effective and efficient organizational structure which focuses mainly towards unity and responsiveness to every clients needs. GHM dynamic regular force is augmented by top advisers and consultants from both private and the Department of Science and Technology with extensive experience and educational background. Hence, the firm has developed and internal capability on the following:-product conceptualization/model development-mold design and fabrication-manufacturing/production of plastic products-marketing and sales-import/export and domestic trading GHM also maintains it close links with local and international counterparts for exchange of information and resources. The firm's membership in various business professional and civic organizations greatly contributed in establishment of business contacts, availing tax incentive and product promotions. Through networking and syndication approach, the firm's clients are assured quality products, available at any given of time and fast delivery and services which among the major components of a country which aim to be industrialized. In carrying out the various functions, the firms operations are grouped into four interactive departments headed by the owner and general manager with the respective line forces.Internal Capability GHM internal capability depends on its three major strengths. Two, is its formal tie-up with the Department of Science and Technology which enable the firm to locate its production plant within the compound of the said Department as one of the recipients of the Science and Technology Incubator Programs. The firm considered these as significant factors in building up the firm's corporate image because the firm can develop not only its regular working force but also linkages to the industrial and research communities through close working relationship and with scientist and consultants of the science community.
