What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a technique that removes the damaged, dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, opening the pores and depositing ingredients deep in the skin to help rejuvenate new cell growth and repair facial skin. It is extremely effective in reducing fine lines, acne, age spots and scars. It stimulates the production of skin cells and collagen in the deeper layer, and over time, enables your skin to assist in healing acne, diminishing fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and more.

Salon microdermabrasion products use medical grade corundum crystal as the main ingredient. As the compound is massaged into moist skin these molecules vibrate and create a magnetic state, thus flattening wrinkles and repairing other skin imperfections. One of the many reasons for the crystal's high impact on the skin. Real corundum crystal is hollow and absorbs dead skin cells. You can see this process occur on your face as you massage. This is the actual microdermabrasion process; without this process you have exfoliation, not microdermabrasion. Much of the corundum crystal available on the market today is a synthetic reproduction. It is far too soft to impact the skin.

Many microdermabrasion treatments available for home use today utilise soft and un-fused corondum crystals which have little effect on microdermabrading the skin. To make matters worse they are often combined with cream bases that contain harsh and toxic chemicals.

Do you want to massage pore clogging oils such as isopropyl and myristyl myristate and octyl palmitate deep down to clog your pores?
Paraffins, artificial color and fragrance aggravate newly opened skin. Mineral oil, and methyl, butyl, ethyl and propylparabens are known toxic petroleum based synthetic waxes.

Remember with microdermabrasion you are opening up skin pores and depositing the ingredients in the formulation deep within skin tissue.

Be wary of the following ingredients used in microdermabrasion and other skin care products:

Fillers: Magnesium oxide crystals, synthetic or un-fused aluminium oxide, sodium bicarbonate, pearl powder, silica, pumice (all lack the natural scientific benefits of the medical grade corundum crystal and merely exfoliate, they are not able to perform microdermabrasion)

Lanolin (allergic reactions)

Mineral oil and petrolatum (clog pores by coating the skin, and impeding the release of toxins)

Octyl Palmitate, Isopropyl and Myristyl Myristate (clog pores)

Propylene glycol (cheap and available, a component in anti-freeze)

Parabens (petroleum based synthetic waxes, allergic reactions and suspected endocrine disruptor)

Paraffins (petroleum distillates, hydrocarbons known toxic effect)
